"Always bear in mind that your own resolution to succeed is more important than any one thing."
- Abraham Lincoln
Personal clarity regarding what you are wanting for your health is arguably the greatest determinant of your long term success. Personal clarity drives the attitude of commitment that you bring regarding your health and that commitment will propel you forward to find your best thinking in every situation.
This best thinking comes from you. Your own internal motivation and your personal clarity on what you are wanting for yourself. Once you have that, you can learn the practical information and skills that may support understanding and future steps. The information is broadly available.... it is the clarity that drives commitment to find it and accomplish your goal.
When you consider your health, what comes to mind?
Is it an annual trip to the doctor for recommended tests? Is it finding a specialist to deal with the newest aches and pains? Are you facing more serious health issues? Maybe you are proactive and health looks like an exercise program, a new diet or supplement program.
A more insightful question may be, "When you consider your health, what does it feel like?" What is the feeling that comes up when you consider your health? Is it anxiety, apathy, anger? Or is it peace, empowerment, acceptance?
When we consider the word health, it can mean so many different things to different people. I would like to suggest that we are all seeking more than a vague picture of health. We are seeking vitality. This implies that we are seeking optimal health in every way - spirit, soul, body - and that even in the midst of an imperfect health outlook, we can seek vitality.
This is a holistic approach to health, viewing all of the areas of your life as important to your physical, mental, emotional and spiritual health. There are many ways to look at this, so feel free to consider the categories below as a starting point and create your own personal wellness wheel.
Wishing you peace and joy in 2011,
Elizabeth
